It sounds simple. A scanner identifies a critical vulnerability. The vulnerability is patched. That process, however, is not as smooth as it sounds. Bumps may pop up in-between. What if the patch isn’t working? What if there’s an outdated software version that disables the patch from being applied? What if compensating controls are needed?
