OnWire announces that its infrastructure platform provided by SoftLayer has received an Agency-ATO from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to operate production workloads at FISMA-Moderate. The Agency-ATO from FedRAMP applies to two SoftLayer data centers – in Ashburn, Virginia, and Richardson, Texas – which are designed specifically for federal workloads.

With SoftLayer’s recent Agency-ATO, OnCloud provides customers with an end-to-end, FedRAMP-compliant solution that can process classified data, such as Personally Identifiable Information (PII). SoftLayer, an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud solution, offers both bare-metal (non-virtualized and single-client dedicated) and virtual server options for its clients.
In order to receive the ATO from FedRAMP, SoftLayer had to meet rigorous security and performance requirements to ensure they were in compliance with the strict FedRAMP controls. FedRAMP is a government-wide program that standardizes the approach to security assessments, authorizations, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services.
