OnWire Receives 8(a) and WOSB Certification

OnWire Consulting Group is pleased to announce that they have been awarded 8(a) status from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), effective until 2020.

The 8(a) Business Development Program is a title designated to Small Disadvantaged Businesses certified by the SBA. The program, named for Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act, was generated to help small and disadvantaged businesses strive in the marketplace and help entrepreneurs gain a foothold in government contracting.

Within this program, there are multiple opportunities for those awarded.  The program provides mentoring, business counseling, training, procurement assistance and financial assistance, among other benefits.  In addition, Federal acquisition policies instruct Federal agencies to award a certain percentage of their contracts to small disadvantaged businesses.

Benefits of the Program

The following is a list of benefits OnWire receives by participating in the 8(a) Business Development Program.

  • OnWire can receive sole-source contracts, up to a ceiling of $4 million for goods and services and $6.5 million for manufacturing.
  • OnWire is able to form joint ventures and teams to bid on contracts. This enhances the ability of 8(a) firms to perform larger prime contracts and overcome the effects of contract bundling, the combining of two or more contracts together into one large contract.

“It is a goal of OnWire to leverage our 8(a) status to bid as a Prime vendor to win Federal contracts, under the primary NAICS code of 541512,” says Operations Manager, Mandy Reutter.
